Our army of yellow-headed poison frogs can be found in our tropical house.
Class:
Amphibian
Order:
Anura
Family:
Dendrobatidae
These frogs typically live in the tropical rainforests of Venezuela, Guyana, and parts of Brazil and can also be known as the yellow-banded poison dart frog.
Their bright colours are not for camouflage, they are for warning predators, basically saying 'don't eat me'.
There are captive breeding programmes in place and also processes for habitat protection.
