Black-winged stilts are a widespread species that can be found in wetlands, salt plains, lagoons and marshes across a variety of warm, temperate and tropical regions, and can grow up to 40cm in size. Insectivores their diet consists of aquatic invertebrates
Black-winged stilts are classed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List - they have very few threats in the wild, however wetland drainage has affected some populations
