The barred dove can grow up to 25cm and has recognisable black, white and grey stripes down its chest and an orange ring around each eye. They are the only long-tailed barred doves in their range, and communicate using high-pitched, repetitive calls and purring noises
Barred doves are considered as least concern on the IUCN Red List
