As the world’s smallest otter species, Asian short-clawed otters measure just 45-61cm in length (plus a 35cm tail) and are recognised by their small claws and social personalities. You can meet our resident pair, Tank and Tamale, in the Otter House in our Oriental Garden

Asian short-clawed otters have thick brown fur, a pale face and usually live in family groups of 2-12 individuals. In the wild, their diet mainly consist of fish, crabs, molluscs and snails, however they have been known to eat insects, snakes, lizards and some small rodent species
Asian short-clawed otters are classified as vulnerable due to ever-increasing habitat loss, as well as pollution and overfishing, which in turn affect their food supplies.
